My Story

What I Know

I've spent years at the bedside of people facing serious illness and end of life. It's there that I realized my capacity to hold space for hard things. In my time of grief, I too was held; by women, by words, by expression through art. This initiative is my way of sharing what I've learned... about how to carry on through life's ups and downs, and how to leave a beautiful mark.

What is a circle?

A circle has no beginning and no end. Everyone is equidistant to the center. Nobody is above or below. It is here we can understand how it feels to be seen and heard, without remark, without agenda.

The circle is the container, and we fill it with whatever is needed in the moment — paintbrushes, words, microphones, presence. At Circle Arts and Healing we believe that art is part of being human, and we honor that in the circles we form.

ART IS HUMANITY

What we believe

Our values

Belonging

Everyone has a place here. You don't need to earn it or explain it or perform it. You just belong by showing up.

Witnessing

Sometimes you just need to say the thing and get it out of you, without anyone trying to fix it. In a circle you are heard and witnessed fully, without agenda.

Agency

Your story belongs to you and you can share what you want, or not (you can always pass). Nothing is required to sit in the circle.

Meaning in transition

Sometimes the biggest challenges bear the sweetest fruit. That possibility is honored here, without an agenda to rush toward it.

Honor for the human experience

There is room in a circle for grief and joy and uncertainty and hope. You don't have to choose which parts to bring. There is room for all of you here.

Sharin

Founder & Circle Facilitator

"During the pandemic, I lost a lot — my patients, the comfort of being near family, my partner. They were the darkest of days for me. It was then I found a circle of women who gave me a place to put all of it; the grief, the loss, the suffering that comes with loving others and being human. I've since used art to express that dark night of my soul — to commemorate the growth that came from the suffering. I do this work to honor the women who saved me, and to pay that grace forward."

While Sharin Kelley is a nurse practitioner, the offerings of Circle Arts and Healing are not therapy, clinical treatment, or medical care of any kind. These are creative, communal, and expressive arts experiences intended for personal growth, connection, and meaning-making.
